James is a normal black kid from Lagos,
he's being raised by his single mama with three of his younger siblings whose names are: Kate, Rachel and Daniel. James is the first born of the family who's done with his senior high and is about to write the entrance exam to gain admission to a tertiary institution.
Living became difficult for James and his mother after the death of his father, he worked 3 jobs a day to stay get himself through his high school, he was determined 'cause he knows he'd still have to take care of his younger ones.
James and his mama and 3 other siblings all live in a single room with the toilet right next to the room, rats on night patrol dragging away their left overs at night and constant beatings and slaps on the body just to ward the mosquito off. Their mama sells petty fruits around ojota just to keep up with the house bills and other bills coming in every month. His siblings hawk the fruits around the hood for their mama for their school everyday while James struggle and work up to 3 different jobs daily to keep himself and his younger siblings in school.
Life was becoming to difficult for him cause it feels like the weight of the whole world is on his shoulders, after his third job every day, James do hang out with few of his friends in the hood just to pass time and gist a lil. James noticed that they all seem to be living fine given the fact that they're all living in the same ghetto so he decided to ask how they do it, how they seem to get the clothes when they want it, eat whatever they want without having to struggle, they barely leave home. Then one of the guys, Tim told him how, They're into internet fraud, pretend to be white female chick and then defraud the white men of their money claiming that they're only collecting what is theirs from the white. James immediately turned them down cause it felt wrong to him, he would rather stick to his daily jobs.
The tertiary institution jamb form is out and the deadline for the registration was just a week, he had earlier used his savings to pay for school fees of his younger ones and now he's broke with no idea whom to turn to for cash, mama could barely put up with the house bills, he evaluated all the options he had and there was nothing and he couldn't afford to seat at home for another year before trying so he decided to go back to Tim to get trained on how to make some cash online. He started working on it immediately the form came out and by the end of the day he's got it. James is one of the most brilliant students among his peers back in high school. So while surfing the net, he came across this bald man who they started chatting, got the man to love up on him and then got $600 before the week ran out. He was able to obtain the form and complete his registration and also cover some bills that is needed in the house, it feeling of having the money was good even though how he got it felt wrong. The exam was the following week, some James dropped his daily jobs to focus on how to study and pass the exam. His exam was slated to hold on the very first day of exam, he was a lil bit nervous cause that is his first external exam, he went for exam and did it the way he could and left.
The following week after the exam, he went back to his daily jobs, he could go back to the fraud cause he didn't like the feeling, "i did that because it had to be done..." he said to himself. Getting back from his jobs, he was so tired he couldn't even spread the mat, he just crashed on the floor and slept off.

From being scared, he was confused, then they told him how he was the first person to ever get above 90% in the history of the examination. The examination body therefore decided to give him a scholarship to study abroad at Oxford. He was still confused still and his mama busted in tears and praising God. His flight for scheduled in two days because the semester had already began.

Mama gathered her savings and got him a few things she could, she was glad he's leaving but sad along side cause he's been the one helping with the tuition and some other expenses in the house. He went to his daily jobs to say his farewell to them and also to some of his friends in the hood and it was time for him to leave.
Mama saw him off to the airport, kissed him goodbye and he was gone.
Getting to London, he was shown his dorm room, he will be sharing the room with another white kid, Brian.

Brian is also a freshman on campus, a lil bit of an introvert but cool, they introduced themselves to each other and got along pretty well. James was admitted for chemistry and the semester had already began, so without wasting much time, he got settled and made plans on how he would start attending classes. Fortunately for James, Brian is also in chemistry department and he has been receiving lecturers since the school resumed so he knows his way around the campus.
It was 6:45am in the morning, James was eager to get to class and roll with the other kids as a freshman on campus, he never actually thought he'd travel abroad but he's there now, out of the ghetto, he is eager to see what the world is like outside the ghetto. James and Brian are both prepared for class and left their dorm heading straight for class. They were late already the class was scheduled to hold by 7am, they had no ride so they decided to work their legs and started running a lil, while on the run James saw a bunch of white kid staring at him in a awkward way, he doesn't understand why they were looking at him, confused probably it's because of how he dressed, maybe he's not getting their style while distracted and running the same time, he bump into a girl and both tripped and fell. He felt so embarrassed, the girl got up and shaded him "hey yo black fool, don't yah have eyes or whah?" he manage to get back up and apologized to the girl, she left immediately in a rush. Brian helped him with his bags and they head for their class.
They class had already began before they got there but luckily for them the lecturer allowed them inside the class. As James entered with Brian, the rest of the kids started murmuring, James was confused still cause he doesn't know how his arrival attracts so much attention, then it hit him and he decided to ask Brian if there's another black kid in the school, "..You're the first black kid in this school mate, in fact you're the only black kid in this entire school."
While trying to process that, a girl came to seat right beside him, he turned his head around and it was the girl he crashed into the other time, the girl looked at him and said "You...what are you doing here "....."i school here obviously..." James answered and focus his attention back on the lecturer. During the class, the lecturer asked a question on Human DNA and RNA, no one in class was able to answer, James got up and answered the question even gave instances to back his answer. The lecturer was so impressed he had to ask him where's he's from and the high school he attended, "surulere high school, it's back in Nigeria.." he said and the bell rang and the class was dismissed. That was his only class for the day, so he begged Brian to show him around the campus, while they were at the conversation they were interrupted, " am Jane, what's your name" she asked, "the man who took the class is my father and the HOD of this department, no one has ever impressed him the way you did, not even me his own daughter.." James smiled and replied "am James.."Jane invited him to a party at a friend's place tonight by 7pm, being his first day on campus, it wasn't the best move for him but he couldn't turn her down so he said he would definitely be there.
Getting back to his room, he was filled with regret on why he agreed to the party when he knew he might not even show up at the party. It was all dark and Jamie was trying to study but he couldn't stop thinking about Jane, way she talked, color of her eyes and how beautiful she is, immediately without hesitation he closed his book and picked up his jacket and left for the party. On getting there, he wasn't sure why he came to the party anymore so he decided to turn back and head home, turning around, he saw Jane coming down from her car, inna all black sexy gown with a stiletto. He loose guard for a moment but later came back to it. Good evening Jamie, I never actually thought you'd show, you don't look like the type that party, she said. I do.. I mean I don't but I was bored so had to kill some times, he replied.

It was actually James first time at a party like that, he would rather work himself out on his party jobs than to seat back and go for parties on Fridays. They engaged in a conversation and got to know each other well but James tried to stay sober and not get drunk, Jane on the other hand had already had a little bit too much to drink, her tolerance level is extremely low.
Jamie noticed she had already start to loose control, so he carried her and take her to her car but he doesn't know where she stays so he decided to just lay her down in the car and head home.
While trying to get her to lay back on the seat in the car, she pulled Jamie close, kisses him and while Jamie pretended to pull away and not kiss her back, he couldn't help himself, he kissed her back, breath got heavier, loosen up her buttons, belt and they had sex.
Jamie noticed she had already start to loose control, so he carried her and take her to her car but he doesn't know where she stays so he decided to just lay her down in the car and head home.

Jane's dad was the first to notice the awkwardness between them but he chose not to talk, personally he had a strong disgust for Africans(blacks), he is a racist and seeing his daughter loving up on one is giving him a serious concern. After the class, he called James and told him to stay away from Jane, "you're a good kid, I'd hate to see you get in trouble for something you don't understand, just stay away from my daughter..." he said.
James perceived this as a threat but he was already too deep in love to stay away so he decided to ignore just as Jane's dad thought he would.
There was a party at the hostel and every student in school is attending, arriving at the party, he saw Jane lurking around the bar, he moved closer to her and they engaged in a conversation, he wanted to tell her about what had happened earlier with her dad but he decided to keep it to himself, while they were talking and making plans to head out to make out a lil, a fight break loose between two kids at the party, Jamie tried to separate them, he was caught with a bottle in his hand when the cops arrived with blood stains all over him. Being the only black kid in school, he was the first suspect pointed out to have started the fight, the cops stayed and started questioning everyone on the scene about what the cause of the fight was when Jane's dad arrived and pointed accusing fingers to James, saying he had caused alot more trouble on his arrival in school than anyone in the entire history of the school and that he should be expelled immediately.
The cops being hater of the blacks worked immediately on his flight back to Nigeria, without allowing him to take a single piece of his load in the hostel, he was picked with his single backpack and dropped off at the airport.
While in the plane for 6hrs, all he could think about was what he is going to tell his mama or his siblings, how he got expelled, how he wasted an opportunity that is so rear to come by.... He became dreadfully lost in his thoughts until his arrival at the airport, he took his backpack and getting out of the airport he noticed the bag was a lil heavy but he was too depressed to think about the bag's weight, there was no cash to get him home, he was depressed as he wasn't even sure if going home is the next best step for him right now.
He decided to check his backpack to see if there's any cash left in there for him to get home, worried if the currency will even be accepted by the drivers, opening the bag, he saw $100 bundle bills fell down from the bag, he immediately bend and pick it up, he take a look inside the bag and the bag of full of money, James lost it for a while, he knew the bag pack he took wasn't his original bagpack but he froze for a while, confused on what to do..... What would you do?
